Sometimes children have been identified much younger and have a cumulative history of a specific learning disability. They have been given remedial help and despite this, still struggle in some areas. All Boards of Examinations have recognized Dyslexia and also that, given some provisions during examinations , these children can work to their potential. Given below is a comprehensive table of the concessions provided by the different Boards and some of the procedures that need to be followed.

  • Report for learning disability from Institute of Mental Health / Psychiatry department at any Government Hospital / Nodal agency like MDA
  • IQ testing done by a Government agency
  • Clearance from Medical Board

Private candidates:
Can apply directly to Director of Examinations at DPI (Directorate of Public Instructions) after getting all the necessary documents.
  • Only through school after getting the assessment report for learning disability from any recognized organization

  • Directly to the NIOS Board through the accredited centres

7 subjects are to be taken by the candidates, of which 4 are compulsory and 3 have a choice of subjects. They should have attained the pass standard in at least 5 subjects which must include the subject English.
